DTMF Tones

One way to control your Allstar node is with DTMF tones, you can use this method to connect your node to other nodes so you can have QSOs and you can also give other commands to control your node. Below are a few examples, hold down the transmit button on your handheld and give them a try:

*3  … { star 3 } is ” connect to ” so to connect to the parrot node server no. 40894 try *340894

The parrot server is useful for checking and setting up your audio, so once connected transmit a few sentences and see what you sound like if it is not so good don’t worry I have covered how to set up the audio levels in my More section.

*76  … Is the command to disconnect all connected nodes, it is wise just to connect to one node at a time, by the way, inadvertently linking multiple nodes can cause chaos on the network.

*70 … Is your system status which will tell you where you are connected to at any given time

*341522 … Will connect you to Hubnet node 41522 which is a collection of connected gateways, it is very likely that you will hear traffic here and find someone to have a QSO with, at any given time there are up to a hundred or more connected nodes on this system. A hub is just a robust node with the ability to host multiple connections.
