Happily, I can now report that the low audio problems which I previously experienced both with the latest version of the DMK-URI and the TechNo by George ARA-1 when linked to a Baofeng 888s in an Allstar node have now been resolved.
The thinking at the time was that this problem was linked to the use of a CM119B chip { As opposed to the earlier CM119A chip } which it turns out has a lower audio output than the CM119A chip.
George from TechNo by George recently contacted me with the following information.
The ARA-1 is fine it was the software that needed to be changed — So we did mod the software –
In the tuneup menu item # 2 you now can bring that up to 900 but you only need to set it at 500 or so.
Set the item # 3 about the same or whatever sounds best for your radio.
The software being Hamvoip. And he is right, I quickly ran up a simple ARA-1 based Allstar node and it works just fine. In fact, I am getting consistently good audio reports from it.
